7 THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

WHEN DESIGNING YOUR (NEW) USED KITCHEN

7 THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND

1

Updating ALL plumbing and electrical components in your kitchen if it’s needed. You’re already going to have your kitchen torn apart. Fix any issues that you may run into later on. This will preserve your cabinets from damage as well as your sanity. It’s also the best time to add any new wiring for under cabinet lighting or new water or gas lines if you need to rearrange where appliances will go.

2

Don’t fret over any minor damage to the sides and/or back of the cabinet boxes attained during install. Generally it doesn’t affect the structural integrity and will usually get covered up.

Cabinet boxes are able to be rearranged in many different ways. We recommend arranging things in a way that reduces time spent on a task. Filler pieces can be used to fill any gaps or maybe you can think of something useful to fill the void.

4

Ensure all of your doors and drawers are free to open, and not blocked by other cabinets. Especially in the corners.

5

Will your cabinets (wall and base) all sit on the same level or will their levels vary? Different levels on base cabinets could be a desk area or maybe a handicap accessible area. Different levels of wall cabinets can give a kitchen depth.

6

Your island isn’t just the size of your cabinet boxes. Instead of using several boxes to create your island, you can instead use 1 or 2 cabinet boxes paired with a large countertop to create your eat-in kitchen area, which may leave extra cabinet boxes for use elsewhere.

7

Get CREATIVE! There’s always MORE options to fit your needs. Many of our client’s have found unique ways to utilize extra pieces they have in their set as well as current design trends to make their kitchen truly theirs. Pinterest and other design blogs are your friend, and you can always reach out to the BRC team to see if we may have some ideas for your situation.
