Hello, everybody, this is Ben again. I wanted to give you an update on what we’ve got in stock, in the current situation with COVID 19, how that’s affecting us and how it’s affecting you as a customer in regard to our business.
We are currently open still; we’re allowed to be since we are supplying the construction industry taking cabinets from job sites and taking them to job sites. I’ve been keeping our same hours at 3:45 to 5:30 and 9:00 to 2:00 on Saturday, I at least have the door open and give people a way to get in at that time. Usually one of us is there but with everything going on there have been a couple of times where I just have it available. I usually am right close by though so if you call I can pop over there. So if you’re interested in coming in looking at anything you can do that. However, one thing we don’t know is the legality of you coming to look at items as a customer. I’m leaving that up to you, I think we’re allowed to be open, but I don’t know about you coming to look. As far as the in-house showings, which we do sometimes, that’s all shut down, since the real estate industry was not allowed to do showings for the rest of the month. So I’m afraid that for all the sets that are still installed, you can’t go in and see those right now.
All that aside, we’ve still been selling kitchens; I think a lot of you are the D.I.Y. type of people who figure, “Hey, I’m home so might as well start the project that I’ve been kinda wanting to do for a long time”, so we’ve been selling kitchens! The problem, or the potential problem, is that we’re really not getting anything new in. My suppliers are doing these huge remodels that involve a lot of different people, and none of them are starting projects right now. So with that, we had a ton of inventory going into the coronavirus pandemic, which is good because next week we’ll probably have about half of what we had in inventory at the start of this. If this keeps going for a long time, we might run out of inventory. So yeah, I just wanted to let you know our current situation- the business is healthy, and I’m very thankful for that, but the problem is that we’re running out of stuff. I hope all of you are doing well – I know this is really hard on a lot of people and I wish you all the best.
Okay, then about what we have in stock. First of all, we have a number of auctions going on. I’m still figuring out a number of details here, one question that everybody has is, “When does this stuff have to come out?” It’s looking like it’s going to be about a month, but they’re still figuring out dates, and also the pandemic will probably change things. So far, it hasn’t changed things too much, but if somebody was to get sick in the house or on the crew, that could definitely change things quite a bit. I was planning on working with these people, and we’re working with their contractor and having them uninstall everything and then we just pick it up, since we don’t specialize in taking down doors, pergolas, and windows, but there is so much high-end stuff here. I mean, I would hate to throw it away! Anyway, she called me up and she said that it would cost the builder quite a bit more money to remove the stuff nicely and that she didn’t want to pay that, understandably. She said “I think we’re just gonna have to forget about it”, but I really don’t want to do that. I’m telling you, there is so much money here. It’s really really nice stuff. It’s hard to believe that this is all getting taken down to the studs. I think you see it in the doors and windows auction ad, I believe it talked about how the blinds are $8000, just the blinds! They sent me a receipt of a little bathroom faucet that was like 800 bucks! So just to give you an idea, it’s kind of mind-boggling how much money goes into these things. I have no idea how to price this, and I have no idea what you think is fair, so I just thought to put up some auctions and people can bid on it. Now the kicker is that you’re likely going to have to figure out a way to go in there and uninstall it yourself. I don’t know how much they’re going to require with licensed contractors and that kind of thing, and that’s a discussion to be had. But yeah, I told her I’m committed to saving this stuff one way or another. I’ve got a lot of awesome customers who are do-it-yourselfers, and go-getters, and I think they’ll figure out a way to do this. So that’s where we’re at right now, I just told her I was gonna put it on here and see what happens. Definitely let me know your questions, I’ll be happy to help. She did say it might work out for a buyer to come with their trailer and for the crew to be taking it out and loading it right up. However, I would take that with a grain of salt because it’s coming from the homeowner, not the builder, and I don’t know how he’s going to feel about that when push comes to shove. Even if it does go through, they’re not used to trying to save stuff, so how they uninstall it, even if they know you’re going to be loaded up might not be that gentle. We’ve just had situations in the past where contractors are uninstalling kitchen for us, and they just didn’t want us messing with their schedule, so they didn’t want us to come in and uninstall it, and it’s been kind of a disaster, unfortunately. Even though they know we’re going to save it they just don’t understand how you have to preserve stuff. Hopefully this can be a really awesome opportunity for you! I got a couple of questions about all the patio furniture, and I asked her about that but we’ll have to see. She didn’t mention that before so don’t plan on that going but if that’s going to be going, that’s a whole other avenue that we haven’t even explored yet. The ads should have the dimensions on there so you can get an idea of the different sizes and bid on those until next Saturday at 5:00 PM.
Going quickly into the apartments here, I’m gonna mention the metal ones quickly because we’ve been talking to so many people about that, and I know it’s been at a standstill. So as I talked to some of you about, unfortunately, the coronavirus shut the whole thing down. They’re still planning on moving forward, they’re evaluating everything though, like what this is going to do to the rental market, maybe they changed their plans on how they’re renovating units a little bit, or whatever. It’s just up in the air. The other thing is that when I get in touch with them I’m talking to the contractor, but he’s only one small piece of the puzzle. This is a large deal that’s involving a lot of investors, and so he only knows so much and can tell me so much, and so when I communicate this to you it’s like third or fourth hand information. Keep that in mind, it is a little bit tough to figure this out with the coronavirus, but I’m still planning on moving forward with them, we just have to figure out the details of a deal and get that going once this settles down. Hopefully, we’ll be running auctions for those on a weekly basis in the future.
The first shaker units will be taken out in a couple of weeks, so be on the lookout for that, and that’s something I’m still playing it by year. If we get enough interest, it might work out decently since we might have pretty low inventory, but as I said before, we’ve got to keep moving those sets. I think it’s a sweet deal for under $900 to get the kitchen, countertops vanity, lighting, and the bathroom package. If you can make it work for your space, that’s definitely a good budget remodel!
Then we’ve had the Showcase Amber Alder for a while, I’m not gonna talk about that since it’s already getting long, the Norwich Brown Sparkle is the same thing. This is a new one, the Awesome Amber Extravagance. So this is a new contact I have, he does a lot of Denver lofts he says, so hopefully, we’ll have more high-end modern sets like this in the future. This one is coming out I think within a few weeks, but we’re still working on figuring out a date. It’s all the cabinets and the countertops. There is a big question though about if we are going to be able to get the island countertop out of the building. It’s pretty crazy, but they make these downtown places so tight that they don’t think about servicing the buildings, they just think about making the most money. Hopefully we can get it out and then you can have that, but yeah these are really nice cabinets. Dovetailed drawers, soft-close glides I believe, euro style frameless design, beautiful cherry, overall a really nice setup. Unfortunately we don’t have the appliances with this one but hopefully, in the future, we’ll have more deals with him.
Some of these other ones you’ve seen for a little while – the Dazzling Dusky Shaker, that’s one we have in the shop, so that can actually be seen right now, potentially. This one is a nice big set, with pantry cabinets and stainless appliances, beautiful shaker, really nice color on it and a spice rack pull out which is cool, and really nice glass accent uppers. It’s a nice set. It’s got some rollout trays, with wood trim on the front, so they spent some extra money on that, and yeah, it’s a nice big set up to give you a lot of options.
Here’s a couple more that are in the shop. One of them is Crystal, a high-end cabinet brand, with dovetailed drawers, we got the granite countertops, and quite a few appliances if you want to make use of those. It’s a nice well built set of cabinets.
This next one, the Aristokraft Excellent Espresso, is in good shape, and gives you a lot for your money with the appliances, the cabinets, and you don’t see in its photo but there’s also granite countertops as well.
A couple of others; We have all 3 of these in the shop, some really nice budget sets. The Economic Elegant Espresso is a smaller set but has a nice espresso color, dovetailed drawers, I think soft-close glides on it, granite countertop material and a couple of appliances. The next one, the Natural Maple Magnificence, is very, very budget-friendly and I’m envisioning this would be perfect for somebody who wants to paint their kitchen. And this is another one we have; what it doesn’t show in the picture again is the granite countertops. It’s under $3000 for some beautiful cherry cabinets with pretty good quality, I believe a couple of appliances and so on. And then down a little more, I just wanted to point this out, we’ve got the Heat & Glo fireplace. This is a $4800 fireplace and it should have a good amount of life left, you get it for a third maybe of the cost so it’s a really good deal there on a really high-quality fireplace, so for any of those building a house take a look at that.
Along with that then, we should have an ad coming today for a brand new Thermador range that we have. According to the contractor, this is a $14,500 range! It is brand new, and has not been used! What happened was that in moving it or something, they cracked the glass on the inside of one of the doors and so the glass just shattered. We had to figure out how to order a new piece and get it put in professionally, but we got all that done and right now we have a brand new range that hasn’t been used. Again, $14500 value, and we’re gonna sell it for half of that. We should have that coming up soon and that huge range would be the focal point of any kitchen so let me know if you’re interested in that as well.
